Frequently Asked Questions About Coaching (FAQs) What are the fees and schedules? Youll need to contact us in person in order to work out a schedule and fee arrangement meeting your needs. We will be happy to develop an affordable plan. Coaching is most commonly conducted weekly, especially while working on outcomes with time limits. However, coaching can be several times a month; involve several mini-sessions per week; or be scheduled to occur only once or twice without a contract. Fees are paid monthly and are collected in advance. The outcomes you wish to create are the deciding factor. Some outcomes take time to unfold. The length of time is dictated by how long it takes most humans to create lasting change. Focusing on business goals implies the need to move quickly. Distractions such as procrastination are most likely to be overcome when financial incentives are tied to performance, as they frequently are at work. How long are coaching agreements? Individual agreements range from two to six months. When working with individuals who are paying out of pocket (rather than through their corporations) we try to keep the contracts to 90 days. It takes about 60 days to see results and another 30 to reinforce the changes. In corporations, the outcomes can be larger, longer, and more involved so contract length is based on outcome requirements. Why do I need a contract? Humans dont really WANT to change and most will take the path of least resistance. But humans CHOOSE to change in order to survive. Contracts support us in keeping agreements, setting timetables and providing structure. About half way through, the mind starts to kick up and create obstacles. Meetings start to interfere, procrastination may set in, and outside interferences may strike temporarily. Its the coachs job to keep clients on track, moving through resistance, meeting deadlines and staying focused. A contract with a financial obligation tied to it is a motivating tool. Why would a client hire a coach and then resist? The human mind is idealistic, but when the reality of the commitment sets in, the mind doesnt really want to change. Many people try to change everyone else around them without going through the discomfort of transition for themselves. Change is difficult because it involves developing new thoughts and behaviors. It challenges ones perceptions, beliefs and memories, and requires going through a transition period. Transition involves a phase when "guaranteed success" may be unclear. Minds dont like moving forward when there are no guarantees. Where do they go next? How can they be guaranteed this wont fail? Coaches are a big help in this area. Thinking about the development of top-performing athletes, one can see the valuable role of a coach. Why do clients pay in advance? Because money motivates. How long will my sessions be? Sessions run from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. First sessions can run up to 90 minutes. At Executive Goals, Timi Gleason takes calls, faxes, and emails between sessions, if time allows. Many of her clients are creating results during the week and may require pep talks, strategy consultations, and the opportunity to report their good news! Do you provide assessments and other types of testing? We have associates who provide temperament and aptitude testing. Will there be workshops for learning new skills? Handpicked associates also provide educational materials on subjects that will help you succeed. A common topic is "Setting Boundaries". Where will I be coached? Most Executive Goals coaching is conducted over the phone. Its more convenient for everyone. Travel time is eliminated as an expense. Phone calls initiate from the client. However, coaching sessions can be in person, can be held for groups, and can be via email or fax. Some coaches conduct sessions over the web in a chat room, although it is more common to see it done on the telephone. I'm a busy person. How flexible are you? Guess who else is busy; its important to call your coach on time. If it becomes necessary to change an appointment, requests should be made well in advance so your coachs schedule is honored. Whenever possible, flexibility with scheduling and fees will be available. Coaching is very powerful and an effective tool in creating results and change. We dont allow limited funds or time flexibility to interfere with helping you create powerful outcomes in your life, so dont you allow it either! What
